About CND


The Council for Nail Disorders (CND) is a nonprofit international organization founded in 1995 to acquire and disseminate knowledge about normal and pathologic nails. This includes support and facilitation of research and education on the basic science, clinical, and pathologic aspects of the nail. The Council is run by an independent, volunteer Board of Trustees. The board meets annually; a list of the trustees is attached. The CND is supported by membership dues and by contributions from the pharmaceutical and the nail cosmetics industries.


Annual Scientific Meeting




Held one-day prior to the AmericanAcademy of Dermatology’s Annual Meeting, the CND Annual Meeting includes panel discussions, a keynote speaker and short presentations on the latest in nail and skin research and practice. This highly focused meeting attracts U.S.and international dermatologists, podiatrists and other physicians as well as corporate representatives and non-health related nail professionals.

The Council for Nail Disorders News is published twice-a-year and provides members with society announcements, news and feature articles including:

 Awards and Grants


alt The Council for Nail Disorders offers grants to support investigations in basic science and in clinical research in the field of nail disorders. The awarded grants have led to publications and NIH grant support. CND is proud of the accomplishments of previous grant recipients and looks forward to new and stimulating proposals as it expands this program. Research grants have been funded by unrestricted educational grants from pharmaceutical companies, including Novartis and Pfizer.
